Nexon Revives Durango As A Mini Survival Game

Fans of the survival genre have reason to celebrate as Durango: The Lost Island has quietly launched as a “mini version” of the original hit game, Durango: Wild Lands. This new iteration is available exclusively through Nexon’s MapleStory Worlds app on Android, iOS, and PC browsers. Unlike the massive open world of its predecessor, this version supports up to 15 players per session, offering a more intimate but familiar survival experience where players are dropped into wild lands populated by dinosaurs.

Core Gameplay and Features

Despite its smaller scale, Durango: The Lost Island retains the core gameplay loop that made the original popular. Players can still engage in gathering resources, hunting wildlife, building bases, and researching new technologies to survive. The game features a “cartoon-style” aesthetic with “cuter Dinos,” maintaining the charm of the original while adapting it to the MapleStory Worlds platform. Key elements like warps and the progression system remain intact, allowing both veterans and newcomers to experience the unique dinosaur-themed survival mechanics.

Access and Future Prospects

To play the game, users must download the MapleStory Worlds app from the Google Play Store or Apple App Store, or access it via a web browser. This release serves as a nostalgic placeholder for fans still waiting for Project DX, a full-scale revival of the Durango IP currently in development by Nat Games (now part of Nexon Games), which was announced in 2022 but has seen slow progress.
