Overwatch 2 Reveals New Hero, Vendetta

Blizzard Entertainment has officially unveiled the 45th playable hero for Overwatch 2: Vendetta, also known by her alias, La Lupa. Vendetta is an Italian gladiator whose legend grew from fighting in the arena battles of the Colosseo map. She is set to launch with Overwatch 2 Season 20, which is expected to begin in December 2025.

Backstory and Role

Vendetta is driven by a quest for revenge against Overwatch. Her backstory ties directly into the series’ lore: she is the daughter of Antonio, a deceased member of Talon who was killed by Gabriel Reyes (later known as Reaper) during the Overwatch Retribution PvE mission in 2018.

While her official in-game role has not been confirmed by Blizzard, sources suggest she will be a Damage hero. Her kit appears to be melee-based, as the trailer shows her wielding a massive, hard-light sword, capable of cleaving a mech in two. The description from Blizzard characterizes her as a ruthless, regal figure who “clawed her way into legend” through arena combat, with her victories being calculated steps toward her greater ambition of revenge against Overwatch.
