Developer 22cans has officially announced that Masters of Albion, the latest project from Fable creator Peter Molyneux, will launch for PC via Steam on April 22, 2026. This “god game” aims to go beyond traditional genre boundaries by blending deep strategy with simulation, town management, and tower defense. Set in the rich narrative world of Albion, players start in the small village of Oakridge. As a “Chosen One” granted divine powers, you must shape the world, manage its citizens, and defend the land against an ancient, deadly enemy seeking to drain the life force from its people.

Day and Night Gameplay Cycle

The experience in Masters of Albion is divided into a distinct day and night cycle that shifts the game’s focus entirely. During the day, the gameplay is cozy and creative, allowing players to design and build every structure, hire a workforce, and customize everything from building patterns to the clothes and weapons used by their heroes. There are no timers for construction, ensuring a seamless management experience. However, when night falls, the game transforms into a survival challenge. Malevolent monsters and beasts emerge to attack the town, forcing players to use their god-like abilities and strategic defenses to protect their citizens.

Wielding the God Hand

A core feature of the game is the “God Hand,” which grants players absolute freedom to interact with the world and its inhabitants. From the sky, you can rain down lightning and fire on enemies or hurl boulders and explosive barrels into the fray. For a more intimate perspective, players can “possess” any living creature, including heroes, workers, and even chickens, to explore Albion from the ground level. This possession mechanic allows for direct combat and exploration of underground caves, where players can discover treasures to help upgrade their heroes for the challenges ahead.
