Pokémon GO Boosts Level Cap to 80 in Sweeping Progression Overhaul

One of Niantic’s largest updates to date has been released: significant adjustments to XP, rewards, and progression, as well as an increase in the Trainer level cap from 50 to 80 in Pokémon GO.

What’s Changing

It rebalances the entire XP curve. Because lower and mid levels require less experience points, new and returning Trainers can advance more easily.

The new system retains all of the existing Windows XP. No one loses their progress.
Level Up Research assignments for levels 41–50 have been eliminated. Levels 71 through 80 will involve new tasks.
Trainers can unlock new avatar cosmetics, such as jackets, shoes, and caps, that are linked to milestone levels starting at level 25.
Increased storage for Pokémon, goods, presents, and postcards are among the benefits of higher level.
Trainers at level 15 and above can now earn 10,000 XP by walking one kilometer thanks to a new feature called the Daily Adventure Egg.
The likelihood of becoming Lucky Friends with Best Friends rises at level 70 and beyond.

Impact and Strategy Advice

Both novice and seasoned trainers now have new objectives thanks to this update. The grind feels more satisfying with richer rewards and more frequent level gains. Since some exclusive legacy rewards are linked to reaching level 50, it might be worthwhile to reach the cap before the update happens if you’re almost there.

Additionally, some outdated tasks and systems are being retired or replaced as a result of the rework. Particularly for the higher levels, trainers will need to adjust to the new requirements. For more info, visit the game’s official website.
