Spyro 4 Accidentally Hinted at by Developer Portfolio

Evidence of a new Spyro the Dragon project has recently surfaced through an unlikely source. A LinkedIn profile for Donald Yatomi, a former developer at Toys For Bob, briefly listed that he had worked on a “Spyro” project within the past year. While the specific title Spyro 4 was not used, and the mention has since been removed from the profile, the timing has sparked intense speculation among fans. Toys For Bob, now an independent studio, is currently collaborating with Microsoft on a new unannounced title, and many believe this project is the long-awaited fourth installment in the original series.

Toys For Bob’s History with the Franchise

Toys For Bob has a significant history with the Spyro IP, having developed the successful Spyro Reignited Trilogy in 2018. The studio also has deep experience with the character through the Skylanders franchise, which featured Spyro as a lead protagonist. Given their critical success with Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time, fans have long hoped the studio would give Spyro the same “numbered sequel” treatment. The studio’s recent move to independence while maintaining a partnership with Xbox further supports the idea that they are returning to iconic mascot platformers.

What a New Spyro Could Look Like

While it remains unclear if the leaked project is a traditional platformer, a live-service title, or something else entirely, the community is hopeful for a brand-new entry. The original trilogy was famous for its emphasis on exploration and wonder in 3D space, a style that Toys For Bob has proven they can modernize effectively. With the toys-to-life market largely dormant, a standalone Spyro 4 would provide the purple dragon with a proper modern spotlight beyond remasters and cameos. Neither Microsoft nor Toys For Bob has officially confirmed the game yet, but the “accidental” confirmation has many bracing for an official announcement in 2026.
