Stardew Valley Launches on Nintendo Switch 2

Eric “ConcernedApe” Barone has officially released the Stardew Valley: Nintendo Switch 2 Edition. The game shadow-dropped on the Nintendo eShop on December 25, 2025, just in time for the holiday season. While the core experience remains the same beloved farming simulation, this version is specifically optimized for Nintendo’s latest hardware. For players who already own the game on the original Nintendo Switch, a free upgrade pack is available, allowing them to carry their progress forward to the new console at no extra cost.

Enhanced Features for Switch 2

The Switch 2 Edition introduces several highly requested technical and gameplay improvements. One of the most significant additions is the inclusion of intuitive mouse-style controls, which make navigating menus, organizing inventory, and placing furniture much faster and more precise. Local multiplayer has also seen a major boost; while the original console was limited to two-player split-screen, the Switch 2 version now supports up to four players on a single screen. Additionally, online multiplayer capacity has been increased to support up to eight players in a single farm.

Improved Accessibility with GameShare

This new edition takes advantage of the Switch 2’s GameShare feature, making it easier than ever to play with friends. With GameShare, up to four players can join a session even if only one person owns a digital copy of the game. This feature is designed to encourage cooperative play without requiring every participant to purchase the title individually. As fans enjoy these new console features, ConcernedApe has also hinted that the upcoming 1.7 update is still in development, promising even more social content and a new farm type in the future.
