Subnautica 2 Set for Early Access Launch in 2025: New Trailer Revealed

Subnautica 2, the highly anticipated sequel to the 2018 underwater survival game Subnautica, has been officially announced by developer Unknown Worlds. The game is expected to enter early access in 2025, bringing players back to the oceanic depths of an all-new alien world.

Subnautica 2 Early Access Details

Developer Unknown Worlds made the announcement during the Xbox Partner Preview, along with a new trailer. While the trailer does not showcase any gameplay footage, it offers a glimpse of the game’s underwater setting, complete with vast ocean expanses and colossal deep-sea creatures.

The sequel will feature a new story campaign where players will assume the role of a pioneer exploring an alien ocean planet. Faced with unexpected challenges, players must adapt to the environment, survive hostile creatures, and carry out their mission under the guidance of the ship’s AI.

Multiplayer and New Features

Subnautica 2 will introduce multiplayer support, allowing up to three players to explore the underwater world together in co-op mode. Players can use new tools, submersibles, and an overhauled base-building system to navigate the biomes and study the planet’s diverse ecosystems. The sequel’s biomes will range from towering underwater cliffs to lush coral fields, and players will once again encounter Leviathans, the series’ signature massive creatures.

Early Access and Future Development

Subnautica 2’s early access period is expected to last two to three years, during which additional biomes, creatures, and narrative content will be added. Players will be able to contribute to the game’s development through feedback during this phase.

With its early access release set for 2025, Subnautica 2 promises to expand upon the core mechanics that made its predecessors a success, while introducing new elements and multiplayer gameplay to enrich the experience.
