Details of the Acquisition

Tencent purchased 37% of Kuro Games’ shares from Hero Entertainment, bringing its total ownership to 51% and making it the studio’s sole external shareholder. Kuro Games has assured its employees and fans that the deal will not impact the studio’s operations, with Tencent opting for a hands-off approach. The developer expressed optimism about the partnership, citing the stability it provides for future projects.

Tencent’s Expansion in Gaming

The company already holds significant shares in League of Legends developer Riot Games, Clash of Clans creator Supercell, and other studios such as Ubisoft and FromSoftware. Tencent’s portfolio also includes publishing rights for Tower of Fantasy and Goddess of Victory: NIKKE.

What This Means for Wuthering Waves

The studio recently announced the highly anticipated Version 2.0 update, featuring Rinascita, the second major explorable nation. Additionally, Kuro Games confirmed that a PlayStation 5 version of the game is in development.
