The forthcoming survival horror follow-up, The Sinking City 2, will be released on the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC via Steam, Epic, and GOG in the first half of 2026, according to developer-publisher Frogwares. The studio had originally planned for a surprise 2025 release, but decided to change the date to give more time for development.

Why The Delay
Frogwares attributed the delay to a number of issues, including power outages and safety concerns brought on by the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. Additionally, the transition from investigation-adventure gameplay (in their previous work) to a full survival horror framework created tension, combat, and pacing design challenges.

Anticipations for the Sequel
Compared to its predecessor, The Sinking City 2 promises to be a more horror-focused experience. Instead of just detective gameplay, expect a Lovecraftian atmosphere, flooded environments, eldritch creatures, a revamped engine, and survival-horror mechanics. The team decided to prolong development in part because of these design modifications.

The Fans’ Takeaway
Aiming for early 2026 indicates that Frogwares is putting quality and stability first, even though the delay may disappoint those anticipating a 2025 release. Months of anticipation are added by this repositioning, but it also raises hopes that the final product will provide a more satisfying horror experience. Check out all the platform links below.
