Ubisoft Cancels Assassin’s Creed Shadows Early Access

Ubisoft has officially announced the cancellation of early access for Assassin’s Creed Shadows. Originally scheduled for release on November 15, 2024, the game’s launch has been postponed to February 14, 2025. This decision impacts those who pre-ordered the Collector’s Edition, as they will no longer gain early access to the game.

No Early Access or Season Passes

The news was confirmed by a Ubisoft Community Developer during a Discord Q&A, where they also revealed that plans for season passes have been scrapped. The cancellation of these features follows the game’s delayed release date, likely due to ongoing development adjustments.

Price Reduction for Collector’s Edition

With the delay and the removal of early access, Ubisoft has reduced the price of the Assassin’s Creed Shadows Collector’s Edition from $280 to $230. This edition will still include premium items like a steelbook, an artbook, and a detailed statue, though Ubisoft has noted that additional changes to the Collector’s Edition might occur before the new launch date.

Potential Co-Op Mode Rumors

Amid the shifting timelines, there are persistent rumors that Ubisoft Quebec is working on adding a co-op mode to Assassin’s Creed Shadows. This mode could allow players to control the game’s dual protagonists, Naoe and Yasuke, in a cooperative setting. However, it remains uncertain if this feature will be available at launch.

Platform Availability

Assassin’s Creed Shadows will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Windows PC via Steam, Epic Games Store, and the Ubisoft Store. The game’s availability across these platforms ensures that fans will have multiple ways to experience the next chapter of the Assassin’s Creed series.
