Cygames has announced that the fifth chapter of the Umamusume: Pretty Derby main story, titled “Scenery,” will be released on January 22, 2026. This latest update focuses on Silence Suzuka, one of the most iconic and beloved characters in the franchise. Known for her “otherworldly” frontrunning style, Suzuka’s narrative explores her singular obsession with the view at the front of the race, a scenery that only the fastest runner can witness. While previous chapters focused on Mejiro McQueen, Rice Shower, Winning Ticket, and Narita Brian, this update marks a significant return to the core cast of characters introduced at the game’s global launch.
A Different Perspective on a Tragic History
The story of Silence Suzuka is deeply rooted in the tragic real-life history of the Japanese thoroughbred of the same name. In 1998, during the Autumn Tenno Sho, the real Silence Suzuka suffered a fatal injury while leading the race by a massive margin, an event now somberly remembered by fans as “Silent Sunday.” While the first season of the Umamusume anime provided a hopeful reimagining of these events, Chapter 5 of the game offers a more personal perspective. Players will take on the role of her direct trainer, working to understand her stoic nature and helping her navigate the physical and emotional challenges that come with her extreme speed.
