Swedish developer Fatshark has announced that the acclaimed co-op action game Warhammer: Vermintide 2 is currently free to keep on Steam. Players who add the title to their library before November 24 at 10 AM Pacific Time will retain ownership forever. This promotion is part of the “10 Years of Tide” event, celebrating the tenth anniversary of the original Vermintide game’s release. Since its launch seven years ago, Vermintide 2 has significantly expanded its content through free updates, DLCs, and major additions like the Chaos Wastes and Versus modes.
New Content: Return to the Reik
Coinciding with the giveaway, Fatshark released a free new map earlier this week titled “Return to the Reik.” This map reimagines a beloved location from the first game, Warhammer: End Times – Vermintide, specifically designing it for Vermintide 2‘s gameplay mechanics. The updated mission features expanded, boat-focused combat where players must battle across swaying platforms and barges. The developers have added new routes, set-piece moments, and props to blend nostalgia with a fresh, cinematic co-op experience that offers surprises for both veterans and newcomers.

Updates for Warhammer 40,000: Darktide
The “10 Years of Tide” campaign also extends to Fatshark’s newest title, Warhammer 40,000: Darktide. The studio revealed that a new Hive Scum class will be added to the game for free on December 2. This class specializes in dual-wielding, utilizing twin pistols and shivs for rapid combat. Additionally, the upcoming update will introduce a new Operation mission set in the trenches of Atoma and a time-limited special event, further expanding the Darktide experience alongside the Vermintide celebrations.
