Where Winds Meet Will Never Be Pay-to-Win Developer Says

Everstone Studio, the developer behind the Wuxia open-world action RPG Where Winds Meet, has issued a strong statement reassuring players that the game will not feature “Pay-to-Win” (P2W) mechanics. Following its official release, the studio emphasized that while the game operates on a Free-to-Play model, the player’s experience and success will be determined solely by “skill and decision-making,” not by the size of their wallet. This confirmation aims to alleviate common concerns regarding unfair advantages often found in free-to-play titles.

Monetization Strategy: Cosmetics and Passes Only

In a welcome message to players, the developers clarified their monetization strategy, stating that revenue will come exclusively from cosmetics, Battle Passes, and Monthly Passes. They explicitly promised, “We will not sell power, and we will not destroy the fairness of battle for profit.” This approach ensures a level playing field where all players, regardless of spending, compete based on their abilities.

Player Reception

The commitment to fair play appears to be resonating with the gaming community. The game has already seen significant success, surpassing 2 million players in its first 24 hours and topping sales charts on the PlayStation Store and PC platforms. This positive reception suggests that the studio’s “no pay-to-win” stance is a key factor in its early momentum.
