Yoshida Responds to Final Fantasy IX Remake Rumors

Naoki Yoshida, producer of Final Fantasy XIV and XVI, addressed rumors about a potential Final Fantasy IX remake during an interview at Gamescom 2024 with jpgames. Speculation has been building, with some rumors suggesting that Creative Business Unit 3, Yoshida’s team, might be behind the project.

As reported by Gamerbraves, Yoshida clarified that while Final Fantasy IX has a strong fan base, his team is not involved in any remake. He added that a remake would be a significant endeavor, comparable to the Final Fantasy VII remake trilogy. Despite teasing FF9 references in Final Fantasy XIV’s Dawntrail expansion, Yoshida reiterated that these hints do not signal a remake.

Yoshida wished luck to whichever team takes on the project but firmly denied any involvement by Creative Business Unit 3.
