With Mario Kart 8 Deluxe selling over 67 million copies since 2017, it’s clear that the franchise holds a special place in gamers’ hearts. Now, Nintendo is set to elevate the racing experience with Mario Kart World, launching alongside the Nintendo Switch 2 on June 5, 2025.
Key Features of Mario Kart World
- Expand Multiplayer Racing – For the first time, up to 24 players can compete in a single race, doubling the previous game’s capacity and promising more intense and unpredictable competitions. Embracing an open-world design, players can drive virtually anywhere on interconnected tracks. The new Free Roam mode allows solo or co-op exploration, offering a fresh way to experience the game’s diverse environments.
- Dynamic Environments – Races will be influenced by dynamic weather and time-of-day changes, adding layers of strategy and immersion as players adapt to varying conditions.

- Innocative Gameplay Mechanics – New mechanics such as rail grinding, wall jumping, and costume changes enhance the racing dynamics, providing players with creative ways to navigate courses and personalize their characters.
- Knockout Tour Mode – Introducing a battle royale-style mode, the Knockout Tour challenges racers to hit checkpoints across expansive maps. Failing to reach a checkpoint in a high-enough position results in elimination, intensifying the competitive experience.
