Square Enix has officially announced that the complete Final Fantasy VII Remake trilogy will be available on the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2. This includes the enhanced version of the original remake, Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade, as well as the subsequent titles Rebirth and the yet-to-be-named third installment.
In the latest episode of Nintendo’s “Creator’s Voice” series, series director Naoki Hamaguchi highlighted the capabilities of the Switch 2, stating, “With the power of the Switch 2, we can now recreate Midgar with full specs.” He emphasized the console’s enhanced performance and portability, noting that players can experience the game on the go, making it easier to share and discuss gameplay experiences with others.

Enhanced Features and Portability
The Switch 2 version of Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade will incorporate GameChat, a feature that enables players to communicate with friends and share their screens in real-time. This addition aims to enhance the multiplayer experience and foster community interaction.

Hamaguchi expressed enthusiasm about bringing the game to a portable system, stating, “I’m very excited to see this game playable on a portable system,” and added, “I have high hopes that we can build a strong partnership between Nintendo and the Final Fantasy brand.”

Implications for Nintendo and Final Fantasy Fans
This move marks a significant return of the Final Fantasy series to Nintendo platforms, harkening back to its origins before transitioning to PlayStation in 1997. The availability of the entire remake trilogy on Switch 2 not only broadens the game’s accessibility but also signifies Square Enix’s commitment to a multiplatform strategy.
