HoYoverse has confirmed that Genshin Impact will no longer be available on the PlayStation 4 starting September 10, 2025, with full support ending by April 8, 2026. This marks the end of an era for one of the most successful free-to-play RPGs on Sony’s last-gen console.

Genshin Impact PS4 Shutdown Timeline
The delisting and shutdown will roll out in three phases:
- September 10, 2025: Genshin Impact will be removed from the PlayStation Store. New players won’t be able to download the game on PS4 anymore.
- February 2, 2026: All in-game purchases on PS4—including Genesis Crystals and Battle Passes—will be disabled.
- April 8, 2026: Full support for the PS4 version ends. Online functionality and future updates will no longer be available.

Why Support for PS4 Is Ending
According to HoYoverse, the decision is driven by hardware performance limitations and storage constraints on the aging PlayStation 4. As Genshin Impact continues to grow—especially with the upcoming Version 6.0 update titled “Song of the Welkin Moon”—the technical demands are simply too high for the PS4 to handle smoothly.
Back in May 2024, the developer had already warned players about frame rate drops, loading issues, and overheating on the console. Those warnings are now turning into action.

What PS4 Players Should Do Now
If you’re still playing Genshin on PS4, the most important step is transferring your account to another platform before support ends. You don’t have to start over—your progress is safe if you link your account properly.
Here’s how to do it:
Open the in-game Paimon Menu, go to Settings > Account > User Center, and follow the prompts to link your HoYoverse account. Starting December 17, 2025, the game will begin showing account linking reminders through email and QR codes. You’ll be guided through it step-by-step.
Once linked, you can pick up where you left off on PC, mobile, or PlayStation 5. These platforms will continue to receive all major updates, events, and new content moving forward.

Next Steps for Genshin’s Future
Genshin Impact is still evolving, and HoYoverse is making sure it performs at its best. While PS4 is being phased out, the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S versions remain a top focus. Meanwhile, PC and mobile users should prepare for new minimum requirements arriving with the 6.0 update.
HoYoverse’s goal is clear: deliver a smooth, visually rich, and technically advanced experience. Sadly, that future no longer includes the PS4.
