Razer Debuts Physical Form for Project Ava at CES 2026

At CES 2026, Razer unveiled a significant update to its real-time gaming co-pilot, Project Ava. While the project was introduced at the previous year’s show as an abstract software concept, this year’s demonstration featured a tangible, physical device. Project Ava is designed to act as a “backseat gamer,” providing live advice, tactical tips, and commentary while a user plays. By giving the AI a physical presence, Razer aims to move beyond simple screen overlays and create a more immersive sense of companionship during long gaming sessions.

Innovative Hardware Design

The new physical form of Project Ava is a sleek, cylindrical desktop unit. It features a transparent outer shell that houses a full-body, animated character, giving the assistant a hologram-like appearance. Key hardware features include:

  • Dedicated Display: The device keeps the AI assistant off the main gaming monitor, preventing screen clutter.
  • Integrated Camera: A top-mounted camera allows the AI to perceive the user and the surrounding environment.
  • Razer Aesthetics: The base includes a perforated platform with depth-sensing effects and signature Razer green Chroma lighting.
  • Customizable Avatars: While the demo featured a character named Kira, users can choose from other presets like Zane or even customize their own avatars from scratch.

Partnerships and Expanded Utility

Razer is leaning heavily into fandom and personality for Project Ava. The company has partnered with several high-profile influencers and esports professionals, including League of Legends star Faker, to offer their likenesses as AI avatars. Beyond its primary role as a gaming coach, which was demoed providing loadout advice for Battlefield 6, Project Ava has been expanded to assist with non-gaming tasks. The AI can now provide productivity advice and general assistance, essentially functioning as a branded, gamer-centric alternative to traditional AI tools.

While a specific release date has not been announced, Razer has stated that it is targeting a launch sometime later this year.
