Square Enix Is Hinting On A New “Parasite Eve” Project

It seems like another classic survival horror game is getting a revival. A recent trademark filing by Square Enix suggests that a potential revival of “Parasite Eve” is being planned. A remake or at least a revival has long been sought after by fans. Could this finally be it? Are we finally going to see Aya Brea make a comeback?

Speculations about a “Parasite Eve” revival have risen because of a recent trademark filing Square Enix did on October 13 with the codename “Symbiogenesis.” The term is defined as “the merging of two separate organisms to form a single new organism.” People who have played the game would know that this is very significant to “Parasite Eve” as it is one of the central plots and a catalyst for how the monsters in the game are formed. With the current trend of reviving classic horror games (Resident Evil, Silent Hill), it won’t be surprising if Square Enix did the same. And if it is indeed, “Parasite Eve,” will it be a remake, a reboot, or a brand new sequel?

“Parasite Eve” is an action horror RPG developed by Square Enix (formerly known as Squaresoft) and was a sequel to the novel of the same name written by Hideaki Sena. The story follows protagonist Aya Brea, a police officer in New York City who is tasked to stop Eve, a woman who plans to destroy humanity through spontaneous human combustion.

“Parasite Eve” was Square Enix’s first M-Rated game and was released back in 1998 for the first Playstation console. It was followed by a Sequel “Parasite Eve II” in 1999 and a third installment called “3rd Birthday Party” in 2010 for the Playstation Portable (PSP).

As of this writing, Square Enix has yet to confirm a possible “Parasite Eve” revival. Fans would probably jump for joy if everyone’s guesses were correct as the franchise has been one of the most requested to get a reboot for the modern age. It could also be a potential gateway for new fans to be introduced to the franchise. We’ll update you about “Parasite Eve” once more information comes to like! Stay tuned!
