Game developer Naughty Dog and HBO have recently confirmed that the series adaptation of the highly popular “The Last Of Us” game series is set to premiere on January 15, 2023. The news was shared along with a new poster showing series Protagonists Joel and Ellie played by Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey.
The premiere date was actually leaked on November 1 through the HBO Max streaming app and website in the United Kingdom. HBO has since made an official reveal to control the leaks. The first season of “The Last Of Us” will consist of 10 episodes and will cover the events of the first game which launched back in 2013. However, HBO stated that some episodes will feature events that will “deviate greatly” from its original source material.

The first official trailer for and images for the series was shared back in September 2022 where we saw a short glimpse of the cast and the infected population that became zombie-like entities as well as the infamous Clickers, infected people who are so covered in the Cordyceps virus, they’ve grown fungus-like growths on their bodies, especially their faces and uses clicks to navigate cause their eyes are fully covered (or overtaken) by the fungus.
A lot of people are waiting for the series especially fans of the game but some have mixed feelings about the series now knowing that they will deviate (maybe at least for a little bit) from the original storyline Naughty Dog has masterfully written. Any fan who knows how fandoms like their stuff know that deviating from the source is like begging for your own series to be canceled. Just look at what’s happening right now to Netflix’s “The Witcher” series. We’ll only know for sure once the series becomes available next year.
