“Project: The Perceiver” Open World Action RPG Coming To Multiple Gaming Platforms

Chinese gaming studio, Paper Games and sub-studio 17ZHE has announced a brand new open-world action RPG called “Project: The Perceiver.” The new title was revealed via a trailer on the Playstation Youtube Channel. We’re definitely seeing some “Ghost Of Tsushima” vibes in this game.

The announcement was a bit of a surprise as Paper Games is known for its dress-up game franchise, “Shining Nikki” and “Nikki Up2U.” Set in a high fantasy era with oriental Chinese aesthetics “Project: The Perceiver’s” official game description mentions that players will take on the role of the “Master Of Varietas.” You will journey in a massive open world and get acquainted with different people while exploring their different “beliefs.” At some point, these “beliefs” can turn into some sort of power and can be wielded in the game. What’s cool is that these powers take the form of different masks your character wears. You can check out the trailer down below.

The plot of the game is pretty vague right now. What we know so far is that it all began with an enigma found in the countryside during the era of the Xuangtang Dynasty. It reeked of evil and no matter how many times people tried to cleanse it, it only became stronger and engulfed the lands. The gameplay looks to be heavily inspired by Souls-like games (like some sort of Oriental-themed Elden Ring), so if that’s your thing, better check this game out.

“Project: The Perceiver” is set to be released on multiple gaming platforms. Right now, it’s only confirmed for the PlayStation including PS4 and PS5. We’ll be sure to update this info once more has been confirmed.
