“NIKKE” Ad Causes Outrage For Portraying Players As Perverts

“Goddess Of Victory: NIKKE” has outraged its players. The game is suffering a huge backlash because of its recent ad. Targeted at players in Thailand, the video seemingly portrayed “NIKKE” players as perverts that do some pretty pervy stuff when they play the game. The outrage was so huge that the video was taken down just after 24 hours and forced the Thai “NIKKE” team to apologize.

The promotional video depicts a man on his birthday. His family is celebrating the occasion outside but he would rather play, you guessed it, “NIKKE.” As he opens the game on his phone, he started to act… Uhh… weird. His eyes start to bulge, begins to bounce around, and starts rolling his tongue as the camera zooms in on the game’s signature bouncy “assets.” See what we did there?

His brother then interrupts him to say happy birthday and asked him what he wishes. And of course, he wished to see the girls from “NIKKE” come to life. What comes next will make you ask “How the hell did this ad got approved?!”

Fans and players of the game were not happy at all as the video seemingly portrayed them as otaku perverts. Waves of complaints and negative reactions flooded “NIKKE” so much, that within 24 hours, it was entirely removed. But of course, since this is the internet, nothing is ever really gone. Youtuber SuperN64 was able to grab it. You can watch it through this link if you want. Don’t worry, we won’t judge.

“Goddess Of Victory: NIKKE’s” official Thailand Facebook page posted a long apology for the ad and their misstep which you can read here. Of course, this wasn’t something you can just apologize for and everything will magically be OK. Some players vented their frustration in the comment section of the apology post saying that they should “respect the players” and that not all players of “NIKKE” are men. The game actually has a good amount of female players as well. Hopefully, they have learned from this mistake and think better of their community from now on.
