Hi-Rez Studios, the force behind SMITE, just dropped a bomb: SMITE 2 is officially coming. The sequel is powered by Unreal Engine 5, promising both visual prowess and technological upgrades for the MOBA franchise.
Since its 2014 debut, SMITE has been a huge game in the MOBA scene with its unique third-person, field-view perspective. Now, with SMITE 2, the game shifts from Unreal Engine 3 to Unreal Engine 5, offering not just a facelift but a major gameplay overhaul.
If you’re a SMITE player, you’ll need to take note that due to technicalities, not all your in-game items will make the jump. But fear not, players! The Legacy system ensures that every dime spent on SMITE gets you the same premium currency value in SMITE 2.
Alpha testing starts in spring, stretching through summer. Then an autumn beta will come next, setting the stage for the grand finale by year-end. The exact release date hasn’t been revealed yet, but SMITE 2 is set to make its grand launch before the year ends.
