Operation Apocalypse Is NetEase’s Next Valorant-Like Mobile FPS

NetEase, the developer behind titles like “Rules of Survival” and “Knives Out,” is set to unleash “Operation Apocalypse.” This might scratch your itch if you’ve been waiting for a mobile alternative to Valorant.

If you still remember, the company already tried to launch a Valorant-like mobile FPS before titled Hyper Front but it was quickly shut down by a lawsuit from Riot Games as Hyper Front was an obvious rip-off of Valorant. Operation Apocalypse is their second attempt in netting Valorant fans waiting for a mobile version.

“Operation Apocalypse” promises fast-paced, team-based action in a futuristic setting, reminiscent of Riot Games’ shooter. In this free-to-play title, players engage in 5v5 battles, employing strategic prowess and reflexes to outmaneuver opponents.

Like Valorant, “Operation Apocalypse” offers a diverse roster of characters, each with unique abilities. Coupled with an extensive arsenal of weapons, players can tailor their load-outs to dominate.

What sets “Operation Apocalypse” apart is its incorporation of Chinese aesthetics and mythology into its sci-fi universe. With an official license secured in China, NetEase aims to blend Eastern and Western influences.

Excitingly, “Operation Apocalypse” isn’t limited to mobile. NetEase has obtained a license for PC, hinting at cross-platform play. So far the game is only available in China but a global version is very likely to happen especially if NetEase wants to compete against Valorant.

Will “Operation Apocalypse” emerge as the next big thing in mobile FPS gaming or will it be shot down just like their previous attempt with Hyper Front? Only time will tell.
