Capcom Intends to Revive More of Its Classic Franchises

With standout franchises like Monster Hunter and Resident Evil, Capcom has garnered a loyal and satisfied fanbase. However, many fans of the company’s older franchises have been waiting in anticipation, hoping for a revival of their favorite titles. Recent developments suggest that these hopes may soon be realized, as Capcom appears to be setting its sights on breathing new life into some of its classic properties.

In a recent interview with IGN, a Capcom representative discussed the upcoming Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster, confirming the company’s intention to revive more of its older franchises. Dead Rising, which has been dormant since the release of Dead Rising 4 in 2016, is making a return with a remaster that features significant upgrades, particularly in graphics, thanks to the implementation of the RE Engine. This project is so comprehensive that it is being referred to as a “remake” by some.

The news has sparked speculation about which other Capcom classics might be next in line for a revival. Titles like Dino Crisis, Onimusha, Sengoku Basara, Mega Man, and Breath of Fire immediately come to mind. Each of these franchises has a dedicated fanbase that has been eagerly awaiting a comeback. Capcom’s recent strategy seems to involve reintroducing these beloved franchises through remasters or remakes, gauging interest before possibly launching entirely new entries.

While Capcom has not confirmed which franchises will be revived next, the company’s intention to explore its rich history is exciting for fans of its classic games.
