HoYoverse has unveiled a glimpse of what’s in store for Genshin Impact players in 2025 during their latest developer livestream. While much of the presentation centered around the upcoming 5.3 update, the studio teased exciting post-5.3 content, including new characters, regions, and features.

New Characters: Six Additions to the Roster
Players can look forward to six new characters arriving in 2025, as teased by HoYoverse. Two of these characters, Varesa and Ifa, were introduced as part of the extended adventures in Natlan, which will continue even after the main Natlan storyline concludes with version 5.3.
Other character silhouettes shown during the livestream included:
- Iansan, a familiar face already encountered in the story in Natlan and has since been teased way back in version 1.0.
- A new boy character (speculated to be Dahlia, a Deacon in Venti’s church).
- A cowboy-themed character (speculated to be Ifa, another character from Natlan that will be a 4-star character).
- A mysterious woman believed to be Skirk, Childe’s mentor, and a 5-star Cryo character that players already met during Natlan’s Archon Quest.
- A maid-inspired character (Leaks suggests this is Mizuki, a new Anemo character from Inazuma and will be a new addition to the standard banner).
- A cow-girl design (speculated to be Vareesa, a 5-star Electro character from Natlan).
- A woman holding a kitchen knife, rumored to be a Chef from Fontaine.

Upcoming Region: Nod-Krai
HoYoverse also teased a new region called Nod-Krai, described as part of the Cryo Archon’s domain but functioning as a semi-independent melting pot of various cultures. Before venturing into Snezhnaya, the Traveler is expected to explore this vibrant and diverse region.

A New Gameplay Module: User-Generated Content (UGC)
One of the most groundbreaking announcements was the introduction of user-generated content (UGC) tools. Although details remain scarce, this addition promises to give players the ability to create and share their own content within Genshin Impact. This aligns with HoYoverse’s strategy to evolve the game into a comprehensive platform, akin to titles like Fortnite.
With the introduction of UGC tools, alongside existing features like the TCG and the upcoming permanent rhythm game in version 5.3, Genshin Impact is expanding its horizons beyond traditional open-world RPG mechanics.
