Riot Games Unveils Riftbound: A New League of Legends Trading Card Game

With over 180 million monthly active players in League of Legends, Riot Games is taking its universe to the next level with Riftbound, a physical trading card game set in Runeterra. The game is set to launch in China in Summer 2025, with an English release following in October 2025.

Release Timeline and Availability

Riftbound will first launch in China in Summer 2025, followed by a rollout in English-speaking territories on October 25, 2025. The game will be available in local game stores, especially those carrying UniVersus Collectible Card Games, thanks to Riot’s collaboration with UVS Games.

Gameplay Formats and Features

The game offers multiple formats, including traditional 1v1 matches, team-based 2v2 battles, and free-for-all multiplayer modes. Players can start with Riftbound: Proving Grounds, a boxed set designed for beginners, or purchase 14-card booster packs to build and customize their decks.

Card Sets and Champions

The first set, Origins, includes over 300 cards, featuring champions like Jinx, Viktor, and Lee Sin, along with additional characters such as Annie, Garen, Lux, Master Yi, Volibear, Yasuo, Kai’Sa, and Ahri. There will also be unit, spell, and legend cards, some of which will have secret rare versions with exclusive illustrations.

Strategic Partnerships and Distribution

Riot Games has teamed up with UVS Games, a veteran in the tabletop gaming industry, to handle Riftbound’s global distribution. UVS Games, known for its work on the My Hero Academia and Cowboy Bebop card games, will ensure a smooth worldwide rollout.
