Square Enix has officially announced Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles, an enhanced edition of the classic 1997 tactical RPG. Set to release on September 30, 2025, the game will be available on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC via Steam.

This remastered version offers both the original game and an enhanced edition featuring fully voiced dialogue, updated visuals, an optimized user interface, and various quality-of-life improvements.

Pre-Order Bonuses and Editions

Players who pre-order any edition will receive several in-game bonuses:

White Equipment for Ramza
Weapon: Mythril Knife
Accessory: Spiked Boots (Increases a unit’s Jump attribute)
Consumable items: High Potion x10, Ether x10

The Deluxe Edition includes additional items that enhance gameplay, such as the Akademy Blade, Akademy Beret, Akademy Tunic, and Ring of Aptitude, which boosts the speed at which characters learn abilities .

For collectors, the Square Enix Store offers a Collector’s Box priced at $249.99. This special edition includes a copy of the game, a special art box, a Ramza Beoulve figure (Akademy Version), the “Outlying Church” pop-up art, a set of “Zodiac Stones” acrylic magnets, a set of Chocobo mini plushies, and a set of art sheets.

Enhanced Gameplay Features

Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles retains the deep tactical gameplay and intricate job system that made the original a classic. Players can choose from over 20 jobs, including unique classes like Geomancer, Chemist, and Oracle.

The enhanced edition introduces several modern features:

Fully voiced dialogue
Updated graphics and user interface
Quality-of-life improvements such as auto-save, adjustable difficulty levels, and a tactical view feature

For purists, the classic version preserves the original gameplay experience with the updated translation from the 2007 PSP release, Final Fantasy Tactics: The War of the Lions.
