DEADCAM: New Found-Footage Survival Horror Game Launches on Steam Early Access June 23

Joure Visser, the developer behind the viral hit Don’t Scream, returns with DEADCAM, a survival horror game that immerses players in a series of chilling encounters presented through found-footage recordings. Set to release on Steam Early Access on June 23, 2025, DEADCAM draws inspiration from the gritty horror aesthetics of the 1980s and 90s, delivering a nostalgic yet terrifying gaming experience.

Gameplay Mechanics and Features

In DEADCAM, players navigate through various self-contained “files,” each offering a unique setting, narrative, and gameplay mechanics. The first file, available at launch, is set in an abandoned Japanese high school and provides approximately one hour of gameplay. Players can wield three weapons: a katana, a pistol, and a shotgun. Combat requires strategic resource management, as aiming slows movement, and melee attacks risk close-quarters vulnerability. Additionally, players must monitor their vitality and manage limited medkits to survive.

Each file features multiple endings, with the first file offering three possible outcomes. Achieving the “good” ending unlocks the full 100% playback percentage, encouraging replayability.

Early Access and Future Content

DEADCAM will launch in Early Access with the initial file, and four additional encounters will be introduced throughout the Early Access period. These future files promise diverse horror experiences, ranging from survival horror to psychological thrillers, each with unique settings and challenges.

A demo of DEADCAM will be available during Steam Next Fest, allowing players to experience a preview of the game’s atmosphere and mechanics. The developer plans to gather player feedback during Early Access to refine and expand the game further.
