Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater Introduces New Online Mode ‘Fox Hunt’ for Stealth-Based Multiplayer Action

Konami has officially unveiled “Fox Hunt,” a brand-new online multiplayer mode coming to Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, launching August 28 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam.

Unlike traditional PvP or deathmatch modes, Fox Hunt focuses on tension-filled stealth gameplay, taking inspiration from the franchise’s legacy of camouflage, survival, and hide-and-seek tactics. Mode director Yu Sahara shared insights during Konami’s latest Press Start broadcast, stating that the team aimed to create something “more than just a shootout.”

Not Metal Gear Online, but Something Entirely Fresh

While Metal Gear Online still holds a nostalgic place in fans’ hearts, Fox Hunt is built from the ground up to reflect the modern multiplayer gaming landscape. Expect a battle of wits, not just reflexes. Players will switch between hiding and hunting roles, making every match feel like a mind game layered with classic Metal Gear suspense.

According to Sahara, this new mode maintains the spirit of the franchise while introducing innovative mechanics tailored for competitive stealth play—something rarely seen in today’s shooter-heavy online offerings.

More Modes, More Fun: Minigame Exclusives

In addition to the new online mode, Konami revealed console-specific minigames:

  • PlayStation 5 & PC players get the nostalgic “Snake vs. Monkey” crossover with Ape Escape.
  • Xbox Series X|S users will enjoy “Snake vs. Bomberman”, a quirky stealth-meets-chaos experience.
