FromSoftware, the studio behind Elden Ring and Armored Core VI, is reportedly deep in development on a new, unannounced multiplatform title codenamed “FMC.” According to MP1st, this mysterious project is in “advanced stages of production” and could launch as early as 2026. That’s quite a fast-tracked timeline, considering ongoing support for Elden Ring: Nightreign and the upcoming The Duskbloods.

What Could “FMC” Actually Be?
The codename “FMC” carries significance: past FromSoft codenames starting with “F” have typically pointed to either Dark Souls or Armored Core entries. This has fueled two major fan theories. One suggests FMC might stand for a Dark Souls III Remaster—the final major title in the trilogy yet to be remastered and conveniently aligning with the franchise’s upcoming anniversary. The other speculates it could be an expansion or new entry in the Armored Core series, perhaps building on Fires of Rubicon.

FromSoft Fans Anticipate
If FMC really is a Dark Souls III Remaster, that means players might revisit Lothric with next-gen visuals and smoother performance. It could also open doors for new content, too. On the other hand, an Armored Core continuation would bring fresh mech combat and customization back into the spotlight—much to the delight of longtime fans. Either way, both scenarios promise FromSoft craftsmanship and complexity!

Release Timing & Industry Events
The project is expected to reach players by 2026 “no later than next year”. That gives FromSoftware a tight window to announce FMC at major gaming showcases—such as Gamescom or The Game Awards later this year. If history is any guide, The Game Awards could be a prime stage: FromSoft used it to reveal Elden Ring: Nightreign previously
