Genki Dama Charity — Support Jeff Utanes, Aug 15–17 at SM Mall of Asia Music Hall

Genki Dama: A Goku ng Pinas is a three-day charity event on August 15–17 at the SM Mall of Asia Music Hall. The event raises funds for veteran Tagalog voice actor Jeff Utanes, who needs support for a critical heart bypass operation. Voice actors, cosplayers, toy groups, and fans are coming together to help.

Why this matters

Jeff Utanes gave decades of memorable performances to Filipino audiences — from Son Goku to many other beloved characters. The event is a community-driven effort to cover medical costs and show appreciation for his contributions. This is more than a fundraiser; it’s community care in action!

What to expect

Expect live panels with guest voice actors, cosplayer meet-and-greets, exclusive charity auctions, and special merch sold for the fundraiser. There will be photo ops, limited-edition items up for sale or auction, and organized donation drop-off points during the event.

How you can help — concrete actions

If you want to help right away, message the Calico Toys Facebook page to arrange monetary donations, toy or collectible donations, or volunteer shifts. Attend any of the three days and buy charity merchandise or bid in auctions so proceeds go directly to Jeff’s medical fund. If donating collectibles, photograph each item and write a short description to speed up cataloguing. If you can’t attend, share event posts and fundraiser details with friends and local collector groups — amplification helps as much as cash!

Organizers & partners

The event is organized by a coalition of local groups including MAD Events, CaliCo Toys, the Philippine Toy Group Association, SM Mall of Asia organizers, and TOYCON community members — a true community partnership.
