Nintendo has officially confirmed that Metroid Prime 4: Beyond will release worldwide on December 4, 2025, for Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2. The long-awaited sequel arrives eight years after its initial announcement, and this week’s Nintendo Direct gave fans a fresh gameplay trailer—complete with Samus riding a sleek new motorbike.
A Long-Awaited Release
After years of speculation and a development reboot, Metroid Prime 4: Beyond finally has a firm release date. The new trailer highlights the game’s mix of sci-fi first-person action, platforming sequences, and cinematic storytelling, proving the wait was worth it.

Meet the Vi-O-La Motorbike
One of the biggest surprises in the trailer is Samus Aran’s new vehicle—the Vi-O-La, a technologically advanced motorbike. While the game primarily sticks to the classic first-person gameplay the Metroid Prime series is known for, the bike will appear in cinematic third-person sequences, adding new traversal and combat mechanics.

A Deadly Rivalry with Sylux
The official synopsis reveals that bounty hunter Sylux is targeting Samus. Their battle leads her to the mysterious planet Viewros, where survival depends on every tool at her disposal—including her iconic suit upgrades and the brand-new Vi-O-La.

Pre-Orders Now Live
Metroid Prime 4: Beyond is now available for pre-order on the Nintendo eShop and My Nintendo Store. Both the standard and Switch 2-enhanced versions will launch simultaneously on December 4, 2025.
With new mechanics, a fresh rival, and Nintendo’s promise of refined sci-fi action, Metroid Prime 4: Beyond looks set to be one of the biggest Switch releases of the year.
