Developer-publisher IceSitruuna has revealed Parasite Mutant, a science-fiction horror RPG inspired by Parasite Eve. It’s coming to PlayStation 5 and PC (via Steam) in 2026.
Premise & Setting
You play as Nova, a psionic agent sent to a remote, abandoned island city overrun with terrifying mutants. What she discovers there doesn’t just threaten her mission—it may irrevocably change her fate. The city hides horrors, puzzles, and disturbing secrets waiting to be uncovered.
Gameplay & Combat System
Parasite Mutant uses the Active Time Chains (ATC) system—a twist on the classic Active Time Battle from late-’90s RPGs combined with a three-segment chain mechanic. Players must carefully time their actions across each segment, choose when to conserve energy, when to unleash chain releases, dodge at the right moment, and strike when opportunities arise.
Additional systems include traditional equipment progression, where gear can be enhanced with modules and “Plus Points” earned in combat. There’s also a New Game+ mode that carries over benefits from a playthrough into subsequent runs, with access to new locations and tougher challenges.
Art Style & Visual Touches
The game features a semi-realistic anime art style with HD rendering. For fans of retro aesthetics, there are also retro or CRT-style filters available to evoke that late-’90s to early-2000s RPG vibe. Players will also have an outfit system to customize appearance.
