Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game Announced for PS5, Xbox Series, Switch 2, PS4, and PC

Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game is coming soon. Gameplay Group revealed today that this one-versus-one fighter will launch across PS5, Xbox Series, Switch 2, PS4, and PC in summer 2026. This announcement marks the first time the Avatar Legends brand will expand into the fighting game genre. As the teaser suggests, the game aims to blend elemental mastery and classic combat with new systems for fluid movement and stylish battles.

Key Features & What to Expect

At launch, the game will feature 12 playable characters, with more to come under a seasonal release model. Each fighter can also call in a support character during battle, influencing tactics and adding depth to combos. A new “Flow System” emphasizes movement and positioning over static combos. The game will also support cross-play across platforms and aims to deliver “best in class netcode” for smooth online matches.

Beyond multiplayer, there’s a single-player campaign with an original story, plus modes like Combo Trials and Gallery Mode. Graphics are hand-drawn in 2D style, preserving the expressive animation seen in the original Avatar shows.

Expanding the Avatar Games

Up until now, the series focused on adventure, RPG elements, and world building. With a fighter entry, it opens the IP to competitive players and longtime fans alike. The announcement also hints at a more active future for the franchise. A strong launch in 2026 could encourage further genre experimentation or spin-offs.
