The God Slayer is a Steampunk Action RPG from Pathea Games

Pathea Games, the developer well known for the My Time series, has announced a new and exciting project: The God Slayer. This title is an open world Steampunk Action RPG that has been in full production for about a year and a half. The game introduces players to a rich, story driven world that merges deep lore with player choice and systemic gameplay.

The game is set in a fictional, Asian metropolis called Zhou. This city draws inspiration from the Ming Dynasty but is fused with advanced steampunk technology. The world’s magic is based on Qi, utilizing elemental powers such as earth, metal, fire, water, and wood. The plot centers on the protagonist, Cheng, whose family was killed during a catastrophic event known as the God Fall. This event was the Celestials’ retaliation after humans began channeling Qi for themselves, disrupting the Celestials’ harvest. Cheng’s ultimate goal is to avenge his family and defeat the Supreme Celestial.

Systemic Gameplay and Combat

The God Slayer features a deep, systemic approach to missions, allowing players to tackle objectives in multiple ways. For instance, players could rush into combat, use bribery to bypass guards, or activate elemental powers to create distractions. The developers provided an example of approaching a boss: a player can choose to fight the boss head on, or they can use stealth, poison, and diversionary bombs to weaken the boss and reduce his defenses before the confrontation. This flexibility emphasizes player choice over a single path.

Combat is primarily focused on melee action and combines classic Chinese martial arts with elemental magic. Cheng can mix elements like water, earth, and fire to create strong attacks and weapons. The elemental powers interact logically with the environment, meaning a fire attack on a puddle of water will create steam. The game is expected to offer around 40 hours of gameplay for an average playthrough and will feature seven chapters, each concluding with a major boss fight. The God Slayer is being developed using Unreal Engine 5 and is planned for release on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series S and X, with a likely release window toward the latter half of 2027.

Currently, the only open page for the game right now is Steam: https://store.steampowered.com/app/2536510/The_God_Slayer/
