Representatives of the Tokyo Game Show return once again to host their annual briefing for partners, game developers, and members of the media. This year’s session focused on plans and procedures for the upcoming Tokyo Game Show 2025, happening from September 25 to 28 at Makuhari Messe in Chiba, Japan.

They provided an overview of Japan’s current gaming industry landscape and its growing global influence. They also presented updated metrics and insights on the event’s steady growth over the years—highlighting increases in both exhibitor and attendee numbers, audience engagement, and visitor satisfaction. Notably, the event’s market size has doubled over the past five years.

The theme for this year is “Unlimited, Never-ending Playground”, emphasizing a vision for a society where everyone can enjoy gaming and entertainment in a lifestyle that celebrates diversity and inclusivity.

About Tokyo Game Show

The Tokyo Game Show (TGS) is one of the largest gaming conventions in the world, organized by the Computer Entertainment Supplier’s Association (CESA) and Nikkei Business Publications. Last year’s event, held across Halls 1 to 11 at Makuhari Messe, attracted 274,739 attendees over the course of four days—both business and public included. It featured 985 exhibitors from 44 countries, showcasing everything from games and hardware to AI tech and merchandise.

This year, the expected turnout is around 250,000 attendees, with enhanced safety measures in place to ensure a secure and enjoyable experience for all.

Visitor Information & Ticket Sales

Tickets for the public days will go on sale in mid-July 2025, while business day tickets will be available in early August 2025. Ticket prices will be announced alongside their release.

Exhibitor Guidelines & Opportunities

The briefing covered important details for exhibitors, including booth costs, space and dimensions, and the latest rules and regulations for setup.   • A free exhibit space at the Indie Game Area.

  • Interpretation services (Japanese, Chinese, English) upon reservation.
  • An opportunity to join “Sense of Wonder Night” (SOWN)—a showcase event celebrating unique and innovative game concepts
