Shirley Curry—better known as “Skyrim Grandma”—has announced she’s retiring from making Skyrim content after more than a decade and a half of gameplay videos.

In her farewell video titled “My ‘Goodbye’ to Skyrim”, she explained that she no longer finds enjoyment in continuing. She expressed that much of the response she receives now comes from very young viewers who simply leave greetings like “hi grandma” or “I love you, grandma,” rather than deeper engagement. That kind of feedback, she says, doesn’t align with why she started making videos.

Curry has built a large following—over 1.3 million subscribers. Throughout the years, her content has connected with fans who appreciated her storytelling, character playthroughs, and enthusiasm for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. But she admitted recent shifts in her audience, content fatigue, and declining fulfillment have led her to this decision.

She also clarified she might still keep a lighter presence online, occasionally posting vlogs or personal updates, but that her time making Skyrim gameplay videos is over—for now, at least.
