Publisher A Plus has officially confirmed that Blue Protocol: Star Resonance, the revived version of Bandai Namco’s MMORPG, will launch in Western countries on October 9, 2025. The free-to-play title will be available across Europe, North America, and South America via PC (Steam, Epic Games Store) and mobile (iOS and Android).
A Revival of Blue Protocol
Originally developed by Bandai Namco Online Studios, Blue Protocol launched exclusively in Japan two years ago on PC. However, the game’s struggles led to its shutdown, halting plans for an international debut under Amazon Games.
Earlier this year, developer Shanghai Bokura Network Technology stepped in, acquiring the rights and reimagining the project as Blue Protocol: Star Resonance.
What’s New in Star Resonance?
Unlike the original’s buy-to-play model, Star Resonance is free-to-play with a gacha monetization system. The game world has also been redesigned into a seamless open world, moving away from the segmented zones of the original release.
Players can now enjoy new traversal mechanics like gliding, alongside a faster-paced action combat system featuring more advanced boss mechanics and an endgame focused on PvE raids. The class system has also shifted from hybrid roles to the classic MMO “holy trinity” setup: tank, support, and damage.
Additionally, the narrative has been reworked, offering a fresh story for both new and returning players.

Will a Console Version Arrive?
Currently, there is no mention of a console release, but success on PC and mobile could open the door to future expansion onto other platforms.
