Cyberpunk 2077 fans might finally get the multiplayer mode they’ve been waiting for. A recent job listing from CD Projekt Red (CDPR) suggests that the upcoming Cyberpunk 2 could feature an online multiplayer system.
Job Posting Reveals Multiplayer Development
In a new listing shared on X (formerly Twitter), CDPR announced multiple open positions for their major projects, including The Witcher 4 and Cyberpunk 2. Among the roles is a Lead Network Engineer, tasked with “designing and implementing the network architecture and online systems.”
The responsibilities listed include developing and optimizing multiplayer systems such as matchmaking, sparking speculation that Cyberpunk 2 will integrate online features.
A Feature Long in the Making
Originally, Cyberpunk 2077 was planned to include a multiplayer component. However, CDPR scrapped the idea, focusing instead on polishing the base game and delivering its Phantom Liberty DLC.
This new job listing suggests that CDPR may be revisiting their original multiplayer vision—potentially delivering the feature fans were promised years ago.

What This Means for Players
Although no official confirmation has been made, the listing indicates that Cyberpunk 2 may blend single-player storytelling with online gameplay. How this will work in practice remains unclear, and fans may have to wait years before seeing anything concrete.
For now, CDPR’s primary focus is The Witcher 4, expected to release sometime in 2027. Cyberpunk 2, along with its potential multiplayer feature, will likely follow after.
