Kakao Games Corp has announced that its anime-style RPG Eversoul will end service in Japan on August 20, 2025, just one year after its May 2024 launch.
What’s Eversoul—and what’s ending?
Eversoul is a collectible RPG where players form a squad of “Souls” from six factions. Each Soul has unique abilities and flashy anime-style animations. Players explore and even design a town while interacting with their Souls. The Japanese service launched in May 2024 and will close August 20, 2025.
Why is Eversoul JP closing so soon?
Kakao announced:
“We have determined that it will be difficult to provide services that satisfy our customers in the future.”
Gacha gaming communities on Reddit highlighted:
“Game’s struggled a downward spiral … It cut support for full voice acting … but it didn’t help balance out the declining revenue at all.”
Low revenue, feature cuts, and stiff competition are believed to be key reasons.
What’s Happening Until the Shutdown?
Though paid items can no longer be purchased, the game will continue to offer a range of content until its final day. This includes a revival event, the release of new Spirits, reruns of popular featured summons, challenging raid content, side events, and a three-times reward boost. The game is ensuring that all players can enjoy the last stretch with a bang.
In addition, players who haven’t yet claimed rewards from Achievement Packs, Soul Passes, or Promotion Passes will receive them via in-game mail—even if the requirements haven’t been fulfilled. Monthly pack holders will continue to receive their benefits as normal. Once the service ends, any remaining rewards from these subscriptions will also be delivered through the same method.
Refunds and What Players Should Do Next
If you have unused paid Everstone, you’ll be eligible to apply for a refund. Refund applications will be open from August 20 to October 22, 2025. A refund form will be made available through the game’s official channels after the service ends, so players should be sure to check back after August 20 to begin the process. Make sure to retain your transaction data to help ensure a smooth refund request.
For those who want to continue their adventure with Eversoul, the global version of the game remains active. You can migrate your gameplay experience there and stay engaged with the community and future content updates. While your Japanese server data won’t carry over, the familiar gameplay and characters will still be waiting for you.
