The popular mobile strategy game Girls’ Frontline, developed by MICA Team, will cease operations on its original Chinese server as of December 31, 2024. This decision follows an announcement by MICA Team on BiliBili, where they explained that service discontinuation results from an expired cooperation contract with the publisher. The team has been unable to secure a renewal for this contract, leading to the shutdown after nearly eight years in service.
H2: Service End Plans and Player Impact
MICA Team confirmed that Girls’ Frontline will undergo a phased shutdown, with new downloads and user registrations already halted across all platforms. The game’s recharge services will be disabled starting November 30, 2024, leading up to the final suspension of the server on December 31. MICA Team has assured players in China that they will receive a compensation package.
H2: Temporary Suspension with Plans for Revival
According to MICA Team, the suspension will be temporary, with plans to bring Girls’ Frontline back in a new form. They emphasized that the Chinese server shutdown will not impact the game’s servers outside of mainland China, meaning that international players can continue enjoying the game unaffected.

H2: Future of Girls’ Frontline Franchise
The announcement comes amid the recent launch of Girls’ Frontline 2: Exilium, raising questions among the game’s fanbase about the future of the franchise. MICA Team reiterated that familiar characters, the T-Dolls, would continue to appear in new ways across other titles, keeping the spirit of Girls’ Frontline alive.
