Amazon MGM Studios is bringing the iconic ‘Voltron’ to the big screen with a live-action adaptation, and Henry Cavill has officially signed on to star. The British actor, best known for his roles as Superman in the DC Universe and Geralt in The Witcher, will lead the cast of this highly anticipated movie.

Cavill’s Role in the Voltron Movie
Directed by Rawson Marshall Thurber, the live-action Voltron is based on the classic 1980s mecha anime Voltron: Defender of the Universe, which itself was an adaptation of Japanese series Beast King GoLion and Kikou Kantai Dairugger XV. The original series followed five pilots commanding robotic lions that combine to form Voltron, a massive robot tasked with defending the universe from evil.
Though plot details for the upcoming adaptation remain under wraps, Cavill is expected to play a key role, joined by rising star Daniel Quinn-Toye, known for his West End performances alongside Tom Holland.

Production Details and Collaborators
The screenplay was co-written by Thurber and Ellen Shanman. The film is being produced by Todd Lieberman (Hidden Pictures), Bob Koplar (World Events Productions), David Hoberman (Hobie Films), and Thurber himself.
Cavill, who recently starred in Argyle and The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare, continues to expand his presence in high-profile action projects, with other upcoming films including In the Grey alongside Jake Gyllenhaal and a reboot of Highlander. He is also executive producing Amazon’s adaptation of the Warhammer 40,000 franchise.
