Naughty Dog is working on a brand-new IP titled Intergalactic, which studio head Neil Druckmann has called their “most ambitious, expansive, and possibly most expensive project yet.” In an interview with Variety, Druckmann revealed that the team is in full production mode but cautioned that there’s no release date or gameplay reveal timeline yet.
Naughty Dog’s Next Big Leap After The Last of Us and Uncharted
Druckmann explained, “We’re building it, we’re playing it, and the whole team is going full throttle.” He noted that the game will feature the deepest gameplay in Naughty Dog’s history, suggesting a major evolution from their previous titles.

Fans can expect Intergalactic to take cues from the studio’s past design philosophy—from Uncharted’s cinematic action, to The Last of Us’s emotional storytelling and RPG elements, to now, a sci-fi setting with even greater scale.

A Sci-Fi Epic With Rumored Open-World Elements
According to rumors, Intergalactic is inspired by Elden Ring’s player freedom, which could mean an open-world structure. The story reportedly follows Jordan A. Mun, a bounty hunter stranded on the alien planet Sempiria, using primarily melee combat to survive and pursue his target.

Release Window and Patience for Fans
Unfortunately, fans shouldn’t expect to play the game anytime soon. Sony has confirmed Intergalactic will not release until after March 2026, and Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier backed this, confirming no launch is planned for next year.

For now, players will need to wait patiently as Naughty Dog prepares to unveil what could become one of the biggest sci-fi games of the decade.
