Miraibo Go to Shut Down Following Copyright Dispute with Nintendo

Dreamcube’s open-world survival game, Miraibo Go, will shut down permanently on January 17, 2025, following a month-long run. The game’s termination stems from a copyright dispute with Nintendo, despite the official statement citing “adjustments in game development and operation strategies.”

What Led to Miraibo Go’s Shutdown?

Miraibo Go debuted as a monster-themed survival game, drawing heavy comparisons to Pokémon and the gun-centric Palworld. The game offered unique gameplay, including taming over 100 monsters, assigning them to tasks such as farming and battling, and capturing them with a mechanism resembling Pokémon Go’s sphere-throwing feature.

However, its similarity to Pokémon raised concerns. Nintendo, known for aggressively protecting its intellectual property, previously pursued legal action against Palworld for similar issues. Although Nintendo lost that case, the controversy surrounding Miraibo Go contributed to its legal challenges and eventual shutdown.

Shutdown Timeline

Dreamcube announced the shutdown timeline as follows:

  • December 20, 2024: The Free World mode will go offline.
  • January 17, 2025: VIP membership and guild servers will be disabled, and all other game operations will cease. Players will no longer have access to any game modes or servers after this date.

The game is no longer available for download on Google Play and the App Store.

Refunds for Players

Players who invested in Miraibo Go may be eligible for refunds on unused VIP memberships and guild server purchases. Refunds can be requested through respective payment platforms such as Google Play or the App Store. However, not all purchases are refundable, so players should verify eligibility before submitting refund requests.
