NCSOFT Discontinues Numerous Games Including Battle Crush And Project M

NCSOFT, a leading South Korean video game developer, has announced the suspension of several titles, including the newly released BATTLE CRUSH and the unreleased Project M. The decision follows internal restructuring efforts, which also led to significant layoffs.

Games Affected

  • BATTLE CRUSH: Released in June 2024, BATTLE CRUSH gained attention for its unique take on the battle royale genre. However, following mixed reviews and a decrease in active players, the game will officially shut down on November 29, 2024.
  • Project M: An action-adventure game that generated interest early on, Project M has seen its development suspended, with no new updates provided by NCSOFT.

In addition to these two titles, Miniverse and Doguri Adventure have also been affected by the company’s restructuring.

NCSOFT Restructuring and Future Plans

The game cancellations come amid broader internal changes at NCSOFT. On October 21, 2024, the company announced the formation of four new subsidiaries following a corporate split-off. Three of these will focus on game development, including new IPs such as THRONE AND LIBERTY (TL), LLL, and TACTAN, while the fourth entity will center around AI research, operating under the name NC AI.

The restructuring aims to optimize resources by prioritizing key projects and streamlining operations. The company has implemented a voluntary retirement program and laid off several employees in light of these changes.
