Palworld May Release For Mobile As Devs Recruiting Mobile Game Engineers

In just two days since its global launch on January 19, 2024, Palworld by Pocketpair has soared to record-breaking success on Steam, selling 4 million copies. With nearly 1,200,000 concurrent players, it holds the record for the highest peak among paid games. Now, Pocketpair’s recent hiring of Mobile Game Engineers fuels speculation about an upcoming mobile release for Palworld.

While the exact number of positions remains undisclosed, the job description reveals that selected developers will work at the Tokyo office, utilizing Unity for game development.

Emphasizing the creation of “core play” systems, developers are expected to focus on actions, animations, and expressions of in-game characters, requiring Unity proficiency.

Palworld’s gameplay, dubbed “Pokémon With Guns,” features Pokemon-themed characters armed with modern weaponry in an open-world multiplayer setting. Known as “Pals,” these creatures serve various purposes, such as traveling, fighting, or base building. Matches accommodate 32 players in solo or co-op modes.

The hiring of Mobile Game Engineers suggests Pocketpair’s interest in a mobile release for Palworld or it may even be a brand new IP. The game’s popularity and unique mechanics make it a strong contender in the mobile gaming industry.
