Resident Evil Requiem Director Confirms Stalker Monster Isn’t Lisa Trevor

Capcom’s upcoming Resident Evil Requiem has been the center of fan speculation, especially regarding the towering stalker monster haunting protagonist Grace. Many believed the creature was connected to Lisa Trevor, the tragic figure from the Resident Evil remake.

Director Koshi Nakanishi finally addressed the theory in an interview with Denfaminicogamer. He explained that while the stalker’s current voice resembles Lisa’s, it’s only placeholder audio:

“Actually, the current version of the creature’s voice isn’t the final version yet. To be completely honest, we’re using Lisa’s voice as a base for temporary audio,” Nakanishi said. He even joked: “Feel free to use this as your article headline: It Actually Wasn’t Lisa.”

This clarification puts an end to the debate and confirms that the stalker will become a new original monster in the franchise rather than a callback to existing lore.

Development Scale and Gameplay Highlights

Beyond the rumor, Nakanishi shared new details about the project’s scope and features:

  1. Large Team – Around 150–200 developers are working on Requiem, underlining its scale as a flagship Resident Evil title.
  2. Dual Perspectives – Players can switch between first-person and third-person views, offering both immersion and accessibility.
  3. Combat & Survival – Grace will fight back with firearms and new weapons, with resource management playing a central role.
  4. Realism in Movement – Heavy gear will affect Grace’s animations, adding physical weight to survival mechanics.

Horror Gaming’s Future

Nakanishi also reflected on the evolution of the survival horror genre. He acknowledged that VR, advanced rendering, and multiplayer experiences continue to shape horror games. Still, he insisted the core of fear remains unchanged:

“Making a scary and fun Biohazard—that’s all,” Nakanishi affirmed.

Producer Masato Kumazawa echoed this sentiment, assuring players that Requiem will deliver a memorable numbered entry in the series.

The Stalker’s Own Legacy

With rumors settled, fans can now anticipate the stalker creature forging its own legacy within Resident Evil lore. While it won’t carry Lisa Trevor’s tragic history, Nakanishi promises it will still terrify players when Resident Evil Requiem finally arrives.
