In a recent interview, Resident Evil Requiem Producer Masato Kumazawa strongly addressed and denied persistent rumors about Leon S. Kennedy’s appearance, specifically labeling circulating leaks, including a supposed image of Leon with an eye patch, as “fake news” and possibly AI-generated. Kumazawa urged fans to rely only on official Capcom information. While the producer did not entirely rule out Leon, he confirmed that the game’s main protagonist is the new character, Grace Ashcroft, emphasizing the development team’s focus on a new, fresh start for the series.
No Plans for a Playable Demo
Kumazawa also confirmed that there are no current plans to release a playable demo for Resident Evil Requiem. Regarding the gameplay experience, the game supports both first-person and third-person perspectives. To maintain the horror level in both viewpoints, the developers designed the new protagonist, Grace Ashcroft, to be a more inexperienced and easily frightened character than her predecessors, which helps heighten player anxiety even in the third-person view.

Deepening the Lore with Outbreak Connections
The producer revealed that Resident Evil Requiem significantly ties into the series’ deeper lore by connecting to the spin-off title Resident Evil Outbreak. The protagonist, Grace Ashcroft, is the daughter of Outbreak character Alyssa Ashcroft. This choice allows the team to revisit the Raccoon City incident post-destruction, offering a strong link for series fans while providing newcomers with a clear entry point. This focus on survival horror was deliberate, as the game’s concept was shifted away from an initial multiplayer prototype that the developers ultimately deemed “wasn’t scary.”
