Stellar Blade Breaks Records as Best-Selling Korean Game on Steam

Stellar Blade has officially become the best-selling Korean game on Steam, setting a new benchmark for the country’s gaming industry. The PC version launched with explosive success, selling 1 million copies within just three days. Combined with its PlayStation 5 sales, the game has now surpassed 3 million units worldwide.

Financial Impact on Shift Up

In its latest second-quarter fiscal report, developer Shift Up announced its strongest results since the studio’s founding. The company recorded 112 billion won in operating revenue (approximately $82 million USD) and 68 billion won in operating profit. Impressively, 58% of this quarter’s revenue came directly from Stellar Blade.

Shattering Steam Records

On Steam, Stellar Blade peaked at nearly 200,000 concurrent players, making it the most successful Sony-exclusive AAA game on the platform. To put this into perspective, it surpassed player records for heavy hitters like Ghost of Tsushima (77,000), God of War (73,000), Spider-Man (66,000), Horizon Zero Dawn (57,000), and The Last of Us Part 1 (37,000).

Continued Support and Updates

Shift Up has shown no signs of slowing down. The studio recently rolled out a patch across PC and PS5 that included bug fixes and quality-of-life improvements, reinforcing its commitment to long-term support.

Why Stellar Blade Stands Out

With its breathtaking visuals, high-intensity combat, and emotionally driven story, Stellar Blade has managed to secure its place in the competitive action RPG market. Ongoing community engagement and steady updates continue to fuel its popularity more than a year after its original release.

Looking Ahead

Currently available on PC and PlayStation 5, rumors suggest Stellar Blade could make its way to the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2. Given its runaway success, it has the potential to become one of Korea’s most iconic gaming exports on the global stage.
